Building Energy Audit & Training Programme (BEAT)

Course Overview:

​

This course comprises of a series of modules designed to provide skills and knowledge to undertake building energy audits and improve energy efficiency in existing buildings. The Built Environment in South Africa is responsible for significant quantities of carbon emissions. Introducing an energy efficient approach to our building culture will not only lead to environmental benefits, but will also increase asset values, reduce building operating  costs and ultimately improve the health of building occupants as well as all who live within a built  environment.

A person credited with this unit standard will be able to:

  • Understand change trends and international initiatives

  • Understand the contribution of the built environment to total energy consumption and the benefits of making buildings more energy efficient

  • Understand local policy and legislation that relates to energy efficiency in buildings in South Africa

What are the requirements?

  • The Course is aimed at NQF-Level 5-6

  • Proven knowledge in relevant areas such as electrical, mechanical, construction, chemical and industrial engineering.
