Solar Thermal Fundamentals Course

Course Overview:

This course introduces the learner to the fundamental knowledge on solar thermal technologies as a heating source. The trainees will learn how solar thermal energy works and its applications. They will learn the different system types and system designs and the various components used in a solar thermal system and installation.

After completion of this course, participants will be able to

  • present the relevance of solar thermal in the energy mix and its basic economics,

  • explain how solar thermal systems and their system components work,

  • differentiate types of solar thermal systems and solar thermal collectors and

  • describe basics of system sizing, installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance.

What are the requirements?

​

Learners should be interested in the plumbing trade, and have reasonable practical aptitude to be able to complete plumbing tasks such as pipe cutting and brazing, lifting of heavy objects, as well as a head for heights.
